About Медиана (English)
About Mediana
Mediana (“Медиана”) is an independent archive of election opinion polls in Bulgaria, run by a small editorial team based in Sofia, Bulgaria. We collect what the polls of every agency showed before European, parliamentary, presidential and local elections since 2014, compare them with the official results of the Central Election Commission (ЦИК), and explain how polls are made and how to read them.
We do not conduct or commission polls and we make no forecasts of our own. Every figure belongs to the agency that published it and is shown with its name and source.
The English text on this page is a summary. Everything else on the site is in Bulgarian. Most browsers can translate a page automatically if you need it in another language.
What you will find here
- Releases and analyses (“Публикации и анализи”): one page per published poll: when the fieldwork was done, the sample, the main figures, what other agencies showed at the same time and, for pre-election polls, the official result.
- Elections (“Избори”): one page per election, with the last polls of each agency, the official result and turnout, and how far each agency was from the result.
- Methodology (“Методология”): sampling and representativeness, margin of error, undecided voters and turnout, exit polls and parallel vote counts, and the rules of the Bulgarian Election Code on publishing polls.
- Glossary (“Речник”): the terms used to describe polls and elections, each explained briefly with an example.
How we work and how to reach us
Election results come from the Central Election Commission; poll figures come from the agencies’ own published releases and reports, from media coverage of them and from the poll tables on Wikipedia, which we use only together with at least one other source. We check each figure in at least two sources and list them at the end of the page. We do not judge parties or candidates. Our sources are described on the page Източници на данни and our editorial rules on Редакционна политика (both in Bulgarian).
If you spot a wrong figure or date, or have a question about our data, please write to us at kontakt@mediana.bg. You can write in Bulgarian or English. Questions about a specific poll’s questionnaire or raw data should go to the agency that conducted it.
